"Establishing Linkages: converting members into partners”
Membership Committee Update for November 2009
The membership committee members include Christiana Lee, Joycelyn Rudder-Jacob, Lisa Feveck, Allison Henry, Hazra Arneaud, Heather-Gem Ible, Georgina Terry and Dulcie Furlonge.
Objective: Attracting New Members
AFETT will strive to increase its membership by 25% with its primary focus being recruitment in non-represented groups.
Progress to date:
Since August 2009 the AFETT Board has approved 10 provisional members for full AFETT membership status.
The current batch of 27 provisionals include ladies from the following sectors: Auditing, Accountancy, Finance, Social Work, Information Technology, Architecture, Interior Designing and Health and Safety.
Objective: AFETT Membership administration.
Progress to date:
The problem of lost applications seems to have been resolved with a steady flow of applications being received and processed in a timely manner. Tracking of applicants’ progress through the application process is greatly supported by the Secretariat and the Board has approved new members at almost every board meeting since taking office.
Attendance registration sheet:
Members are constitutionally obligated to regularly attend monthly and committee meetings and special events and their participation is subject to Board review. Hence, the membership committee will be instituting an attendance register which members and provisionals will sign upon entering monthly meetings. Your committee participation will be logged by your committee director.
Please see the pertinent excerpts from the AFETT constitution below:

A few members have taken advantage of this opportunity to showcase their primary or secondary businesses at the monthly meetings or fund raising events. We encourage more members to utilise this promotional activity; you may send your expressions of interest to membership.afett@gmail.com.
AFETT member Recognition: AFETT Member Award and Bonus Points Programme
Progress to Date :
AFETT seeks to recognise the winners within the AFETT family. The membership committee is seeking nominations for the AFETT Member Award from the general membership, of the AFETT member who they think embodies the AFETT Spirit. The ideal candidate will be that member who:
- Works hard and consistently, and whose output has a significant positive impact on AFETT.
- Embodies the energy of our organisation and is passionate about AFETT’s work.
- Has influenced many people through their actions and number of hours of service given to AFETT.
Bonus Points Programme: in place since 2008, the bonus points programme seeks to recognise, specifically, those members who regularly attend monthly and committee meetings and support AFETT events.
AFETT Members featured in “Who’s Who in Trinidad and Tobago Business” – no less than 9 AFETT members and their businesses were prominently featured in the current issue of “Who’s Who in Trinidad and Tobago Business” demonstrating the growth of the organisations which these AFETT ladies lead and direct through the fierce waters of business in these economic times.
