Women & Development Fund
The newly elected Board of the Association of Female Executives of Trinidad and Tobago (AFETT) for the 2015-2016 Term continues to lead the way in promoting the development of female executives.
In July 2015, AFETT’s President Cavelle Joseph and President-Elect Tricia Leid presented two deserving UWI students with bursaries to offset their tertiary expenses. Visual Arts under-grad Lauren Jennings-Stoute and aspiring Dental Hygiene Therapist, Krystal Mark, each received cheques of $5,000 from AFETT.
AFETT’s Women & Development Fund was launched in 2012 to commemorate the Association’s 10th anniversary. The AFETT Awards, which are administered by the University of the West Indies Administration, are open to second year students with a 3.5 GPA Average and a strong extra curricula background. AFETT has a long history of supporting and mentoring young women. In the past, the Association has worked with St. Jude’s Home for Girls, St. Francois Girls College, Belmont Secondary School and Corpus Christi College- just to name a few. Under the umbrella of its Social Outreach Committee, mentoring programmes have successfully been introduced for female prison inmates at the Golden Grove Prison.
