President

Yolande Agard-Simmons

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The President shall be responsible for managing the Association in line with the approved Strategy and direction. This will include but is not limited to, coordinating all aspects of the Board and overseeing the growth of the network.

 

Personal Bio:

Yolande Agard-Simmons is Creative Director and PR Strategist of the Consultancy firm – The Image Architect – a consultancy that capitalises on both her innate skill and love for branding and creative writing – corporate and personal.

 

She is a seasoned Corporate Communications practitioner with almost twenty years’ experience in the field, capable of defining and executing strategic and marketing plans that establish the desired image and reputation of an organisation in the minds of its chosen publics. A skilled team leader, she has demonstrated her ability to utilise skills of influence at all levels of management to progress departmental objectives.

 

From her years of experience in the field, she has become a master in the art of diplomacy and Government Affairs/Relations.  She is a media relations expert and has scripted hundreds of speeches, messages and articles. Yolande has also executed Trinidad and Tobago’s successful participation in multiple local, regional and international Trade Shows.

 

She has served as Director – Corporate Communications in various Ministries over the past ten years, with directive responsibility for corporate communications and reputation management.  She started her career in the banking sector, and some eight years later found her calling in the field of communications.

 

Yolande holds a Masters in Business Administration from Herriott Watt University, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Sunderland; an Advanced Diploma in Administrative Management, Institute of Administrative Management, England; and a Management Certificate in Public Relations from Roytec.

 

She also spends a considerable portion of her free time in an international volunteer work that puts her in contact with members of the public, many of whom are disadvantaged youths and she uses this opportunity to educate them about spiritual values.  Yolande embraces her volunteer work as President of the Association of Female Executives of Trinidad and Tobago (AFETT) since it provides her with a platform for advocacy for women’s issues and ‘giving back’.

 

Yolande is a proud Point Fortin native.  Happily married to Jobe Simmons for nineteen years, with a passion for the visual arts and travelling, she is often time described as a consummate professional.

Communications & Public Relations Director

Michelle Low Chew Tung

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The role of the Communications & Public Relations Director is to preserve the image, reputation and presence of AFETT in relevant internal and external forums. They are responsible for managing and enhancing the communications tools used to reach AFETT’s internal and external customers, such as the website and Take Note, the monthly e-newsletter. They are also charged with creating a historical archive of AFETT’s activities using appropriate media.

 

Personal Bio:

Michelle Low Chew Tung is an Entrepreneur, Management Consultant, Business Mentor, Writer, and Trainer.  She is the Managing Director and CoFounder of INVENI Business & Technology Ltd (INVENI), the Caribbean’s leading China direct sourcing solutions company.  Michelle has been building her career in CHINA sourcing steadily over the last 8 years and is recognized as an expert in China sourcing.

 

In her capacity as Managing Director at INVENI, she has responsibility for the firm’s operations and strategic direction, marketing and business development, client services, project management and other key functional areas.

 

Michelle is an expert in the field of marketing and business development strategy.  Her professional experience comprises over 15 years in the financial services industry, in addition to senior executive management positions at state companies in the key areas of tourism development, market planning & development, procurement, project management, product development, construction, business development and business consulting.  

 

She is the Founder and Principal Consultant of LCT Consulting & Associates Limited, a strategic marketing and business development consulting firm; and the Co-Founder of ShareHome Caribbean, the leading consulting firm on the Sharing Economy in the Caribbean.  

 

Michelle’s passion lies in mentoring businesses and helping clients to achieve goals they initially deem impossible.  She believes that our most valuable offering is helping others and paying it forward leads to your own success.

 

She is a member of QUOTA International, a non-profit organization empowering women, children, the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired in local communities around the world.

 

Michelle holds an MBA with a major in International Marketing from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, University of the West Indies; and a B.A in International Business Administration from the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom.​

Fundraising Director

Patries Ramkaran

ROLE & FUNCTION:

Focusing on special events, the Fundraising Committee is responsible for raising money to drive the AFETT subcommittees and their projects. This Committee is about effective marketing and partnering with corporate citizens to build long-term relationships that are mutually beneficial.

 

Personal Bio:

Patries is the Founder and Managing Director of Ramkaran Contracting Services Limited & Home for Me.  She is an experienced Managing Director with a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry.  Patries is also Skilled in Strategic Planning, Business Strategy, Leadership, Project Planning, and Project Management. She prides herself as being a strong business development professional with an MBA focused in Entrepreneurship from Australian Institute of Business. 

 

Patries is also and published author of the book titled ‘Dream It Own It.  She is a VVGrow Fellow with the Vital Voices Global Partnership and a Fellow of the Cherrie Blair Foundation for Women.

 

Patries has been an active financial member of the Association for the past two years.

Programmes Director

Programmes Director - Vacant

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Director of Programmes shall have responsibility for members’ professional development. This will include, but not be limited to, coordination of the Association’s membership meetings and seminars.

Social Outreach Director

Solange Richardson

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Director of Social Outreach shall have the responsibility for planning, managing and motivating persons on all Social Outreach programmes, including but not limited to the REACH Mentorship Programme.

 

Personal Bio:

Solange Richardson is the CEO of Sole`(Beauty for the Soul) a company she founded in 2003, which offers professional beauty services including manicures, pedicures, nail artistry, makeup services and full body waxing.

 

After training with the Creative Nail Academy (Trinidad) in 2003, she worked as a part-time manicurist while maintaining her day job as a drafting technician with a local engineering firm.

 

Determined to be the best at her skill, coupled with a love for the art form, Solange worked relentlessly to upgrade her skills in gels and other nail trends by attending various Trade Shows to maintain her skills and keep abreast with international standards.

 

She is a member of BeautyTech.com for over 14 years. She has been featured in various local newspaper articles on ‘What’s trending in nails’.  She is also actively involved in local fashion runway shows and local fashion magazines.

 

Never laid back Solange took it to the next level by becoming an Educator for Hand and Nail Harmony in 2014.  Hand and Nail Harmony is one of the leading nail brands in the industry. Since then she has been educating her fellow techs locally and regionally by offering bespoke and one-on-one courses.  Over the past three years, she also runs a Nail Camp for young girls.


Her mantra is ‘in the process of changing the local fashion scene and concept on the nail industry, striving to be better than the best.”​

President Elect

Dixie-Ann Dickson

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The President-Elect is a Learning Role as the incumbent is preparing for their year as President. The President-Elect will work closely with the President to understand the strategic objectives of AFETT, the operation of committees and management of the Board. The President-Elect can be called on to handle special projects or responsibilities as required, including Elections.

 

Personal Bio:

Dixie-Ann Dickson is the Communications Specialist for the Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago. In this role, she manages the organisation’s corporate communication strategies, brand identity and leads the Association’s events and community outreach engagements.

 

She holds over 15 years of experience in public relations and business communications including consultancy, editorial, magazine and radio production, marketing and business strategies, brand management and conceptualization and coordination of local, regional and international events and conferences.

 

An accomplished journalist in various facets of media including business, politics and civic affairs, Dixie-Ann is known for her lively and insightful reporting and bringing conversation to life.

 

Active with a number of non-profit organisations over the years, Dixie-Ann has a passion for “giving back” and she is happy to marry her communications and volunteer interests, having initially served, in 2005, as the Public Relations Officer for the local arm of an international football development organisation.

 

Dixie-Ann holds a BSc in Sociology and minor in Communications from the University of the West Indies, a Masters in Business Administration from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, as well as LCCI Diploma in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations from Sital College of Tertiary Education Ltd.

Membership Director

Dulcie Furlonge

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Director of Membership shall at all times endeavour to offer members the best possible value for their membership. This will include but not be limited to maintaining current and relevant membership listings, analysing member demographics to ensure that the Association is as professionally diverse as possible, and soliciting feedback to measure whether member expectations are being met.

 

Personal Bio:

Dulcie is a co-founder of an IT solutions company, a Business Consultant and recently launched another business in the artisan/ creative sector. Over the last 12 years, she has handled financial management and project administration for Non-Profit organisations awarded Donor funded grants. These organisations implemented projects focused on establishing monitoring and evaluation and One Health approaches to the Caribbean region. Dulcie has a strong desire to see the local and Caribbean business sector to achieve sustainable growth and sees Associations like AFETT as a key factor in that success. Her mantra is 'alone, we struggle but by working together, our strengths are magnified.'

Finance Director

Cheryl Sue Wing

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Finance Committee is responsible for managing AFETT’s finances which includes maintaining records, preparing AFETT’s financial statements and coordinating all committee budgets.  

 

Personal Bio:

Cheryl Sue Wing is an Inspirational Speaker, Visionary Entrepreneur, Medical Aesthetician, Image Consultant and Women’s Advocate, with over 30 years in the Beauty Industry.  She inspires women through her talks and work about the power and impact of first impressions, and encourages them to use their gifts and talents to live up to their fullest potential.

 

Her success story began in banking and in the private sector in the field of accounting and administrative work. But her free spirit and love and passion for all things beautiful drew her to the field of Aesthetics. She studied Applied Aesthetics at the Shaw College of London and then at the Lydia Safari Institute in Secaucus New Jersey.  Image consultancy came as a result of listening to her clients' needs.

 

Cheryl is a talented writer and pioneer, writing for Trinidad’s first weekly magazine for women as a featured columnist, focusing on beauty from the inside out and advising and encouraging women as a beauty columnist for the Woman Wise magazine. She was also featured in the first issue of the Caribbean based magazine, Entrepreneur Spirit.

 

In October of 2016, she successfully hosted her first seminar “With WOMEN in mind” for entrepreneurs entitled “Stepping into your greatness”.  A committed Christian; she encourages Women through 3 featured topics: The Power and Impact of a Positive Image; Balance in Work and Play; and Living Your Style.

Secretary

Inga Dottin

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Secretary shall maintain a register of all members and shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Board and all meetings of the Association. The Secretary shall be responsible for organising and ensuring the proper record keeping of all Board and Special Meetings; archiving the Association’s records and materials (including photographs); and ensuring that the Association complies with Trinidad and Tobago legislation and the Association's Standard Operating Procedures.

 

Personal Bio:

Inga is a Corporate Communications professional with over 15 years of experience. She is passionate about young people, the environment, politics and culture. She hopes to channel her personal experiences in ways that will enrich the lives of others, especially young women. Inga believes that “a strong woman can stand up for herself, but a stronger woman will stand up for others.”

Research and Public Advocacy Director

Jeane Warner

ROLE & FUNCTION:

The Research and Public Advocacy committee is charged with keeping AFETT members up to date on relevant issues and events, formulating public statements to be made on behalf of AFETT, and for the coordination of research activities undertaken by or on behalf of AFETT.

 

Personal Bio:

Jeane Adanna Warner is an Attorney-at-Law with 5 years’ experience specializing in Family Law, Commercial Law, Industrial Relations and Corporate Law. She also holds a degree in History with Psychology.

 

Trained in Bristol, United Kingdom, Jeane has also worked as a speechwriter in the Public Service where she wrote and advised Ministers on key developmental issues and effective communication strategies relevant to their Ministerial development.

 

An advocate for gender equality and sisterhood, Jeane has been a female executive and advocate for over fifteen (15) years working with Non-Profit Organisations and Community Based Organisations, working specifically with young girls and ladies throughout the country.

 

A Part-Time Tutor in Business Law; Speech-writer; Entrepreneur; Mother; Advocate; Attorney-at-Law; Jeane’s experience and direct interaction with the legal and judicial landscape of Trinidad and Tobago has afforded her the requisite research and advocacy skills that make her the perfect candidate for her role as Director Research and Public Advocacy of the Association of Female Executives of Trinidad and Tobago (AFETT).

 

Her involvement in research on social issues and issues affecting young girls and women through her work as Speechwriter at the Ministry of the People and Social Development only helps to further advance her role in this capacity at AFETT.
